This season, combine wonder and responsible consumption by shopping for your gifts in local Christmas markets. In addition to promoting local shopping, you will find a variety of original finds that will delight your small (and large) children!

The small Christmas markets are a perfect solution to avoid the hubbub of shopping malls and the long distances that sometimes have to be walked. You can also take advantage of the shopping opportunity to live a pleasant moment with your family. Here is an overview of the markets not to be missed near you.

Mont-Tremblant Holiday Market

November 25 from 4 pm to 8 pm, November 26 from 10 am to 5 pm and November 27 from 10 am to 3 pm City Hall, 1145 Saint-Jovite Street, Mont-Tremblant

It’s worth the drive to Mont-Tremblant to explore the booths of the magnificent exhibitors at the Marché des fêtes! To discover: wooden products, unique jewelry, handmade clothing made of natural fibers, doggies and blankets for children, beauty products and a host of delights to slip into the Christmas stockings of grandchildren.

Mirabel Holiday Market

Fridays from 5 pm to 9 pm, Saturdays from 10 am to 6 pm and Sundays from 10 am to 5 pm, from November 25 to December 11 Centre culturel du Domaine Vert-Nord, 17530, rue Jacques-Cartier, Mirabel

Exhibitors are waiting for you inside and outside in adorable houses typical of festive markets to present the fruit of their work. Browse the kiosks and let yourself be tempted by the products of the rich Mirabel terroir or original wood and knitting articles, including decorations for the tree.

Le Noël des métiers d’art de Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts

3 et 4 décembre Place Lagny, 2, rue St-Louis, Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts

In addition to showcasing local artisans, this market on the shores of Lac des Sables offers a variety of activities for all tastes. Horse-drawn carriages, musicians, Santa Claus and elves, taffy on snow and hot cider await visitors. Free workshops are also offered on site, such as making Christmas papillotes or decorations from recycled materials.

Christmas market of Ste-Adèle

December 3 from 9:30 am to 5 pm and December 4 from 9:30 am to 4 pm Place des Citoyens, 999 Sainte-Adèle Boulevard

The holiday frenzy wins the Place des Citoyens in early December, to our delight! Discover about 50 exhibitors spread over two indoor floors—to shop warm! or installed in outdoor kiosks under the covered esplanade. You will find local food products and creations of local artisans.

Christmas market of Val-David

Saturday, December 10 and 17 , Church of Val-David, 2490, rue de l'Église

Active for more than 13 years, the Val-David Christmas market has a unique touch. There are hundreds of holiday items, many of which are free of harmful products for health and the environment. A great way to encourage local families and discuss their approach with them.

To enter the magic of the holidays

Whether you are looking for a hostess gift, presents for your loved ones or even a little something to spoil you, enjoy the Christmas markets that surround you. They contribute to the vitality of the region and provide a good dose of energy for the holidays!

The invigorating freshness, the smell of fallen leaves, the masterful colours… Fall stimulates all the senses! The best way to enjoy it is to participate in outdoor activities. Discover our suggestions for nature getaways in the Laurentians or at your residence to fully experience the fall season.

Visit the parks of the region

It is fascinating to see the landscape of the parks evolve with the seasons. Take advantage of fall to rediscover the hiking trails of these different jewels of nature, accessible for free or at a low cost, and observe wildlife that is usually more discreet in summer. Nearby parks include:

· Parc régional de la Rivière-du-Nord, Saint-Jérôme

· Nature reserve Alfred-Kelly, Prévost

· Doncaster River Park, Sainte-Adèle

· Val-David–Val-Morin Regional Park

Consult the Tourisme Laurentides map to discover other parks and wildlife reserves.

Rather want a short walk near you? All our residences are located near a green space. For example, the Manoir de la Vallée has a charming trail with benches to rest, and the Manoir Quatre Saisons is builtin front of the magnificent Lac des Sables.

Take a bike ride

The temperature of autumn is perfect for doing cardiovascular activities such as cycling. The P'tit Train du Nord linear park is the preferred route to cross the Laurentians, as well as the Parc du Corridor aérobique, which extends over 58 km from Morin-Heights to Amherst. To prolong the fun, consider renting or buying an electric bike, which facilitates steep climbs.

Outside picnic

Summer is the time for gatherings with friends or family. Barbecues, friendly tournaments, vigils around the fire. Mornings and evenings can be cooler in the fall, lunch is a great time to have a meal outside. Not to mention that at this time of year, there are no more flies and mosquitoes to attack our precious food! Visit one of the parks mentioned above or sit in one of the garden pavilions of our residences to picnic with your loved ones at home.

Admire the colors from the top of a mountain

From late September to early October, the popular Laurentian ski mountains are just as popular for the views they offer of the orange-red forests. It is possible to reach the summit of some of them by car (Mont-Gabriel) or by ski lift (Sommet Saint-Sauveur, Mont Avalanche, Mont Tremblant).

However, you do not always have to move to admire the colors! Our residences in Saint-Sauveur have views of the cliff and mountains that you can enjoy in comfort.

Taste the fruits of the terroir

Fall is also harvest season. You will have to venture into the Lower Laurentians to pick seasonal fruits, including apples, plums and pumpkins. Don’t miss the Squash Interpretation Centre in Saint-Joseph-du-Lac, where you will find pumpkins and pumpkins of all kinds for your seasonal dishes and decorations. To get out of the ordinary, why not try picking your own in the forest? The company Gourmet Sauvage, in Mont-Blanc (formerly Saint-Faustin), invites you to follow workshops to learn how to pick and prepare medicinal herbs, plants or wild mushrooms. You can also try picking yourself with the book Forêt: Identifier, cueillir, cuisiner written by the founders of the company.

Camping in a furnished cabin

There are still beautiful days in autumn to enjoy camping! Ready-to-camp pitches, a kind of rustic cabin, are ideal for the season, as they have extra heating. Mont-Tremblant National Park offers 49 traditional ready-to-camp sites and 31 Étoile chalets, a little more upscale. They are open until mid-October.

Every season has its advantages

The Laurentians come alive all summer with a varied program of festivals, shows and gatherings!
Just because you’re retired doesn’t mean you don’t need a vacation! Summer, the heat and the good weather encourage us to live at a different speed. Did you know that summer holidays have many benefits? Here are seven that should convince you to take it easy in the coming weeks.

1. Rest

Let’s do like the South Americans and take advantage of the hot periods to take a nap! Without kidding, summer is a great time to recover the lost hours of sleep, because we often have fewer obligations. Your body will thank you for those banking hours when the light starts to fall.

2. Living at a slower pace

Daily life is full of little stresses that accumulate: arriving on time for planned activities, taking health or personal care appointments, planning outings and visits… Since summer, many activities take a break and our loved ones are on vacation, we can afford to live in slow motion. You want to sleep in the middle of the week? Why not! It is very soothing to follow your inner rhythm.

3. Take advantage of social opportunities

Summer is the time for gatherings with friends or family. Barbecues, friendly tournaments, bonfires, picnics, larks! All occasions are good to see each other, especially if the weather is on our side. In addition, the pandemic has taught us that when we gather outdoors, the risks of contamination of all kinds are greatly reduced. So we can meet without worry.

4. Improving our health

By reducing our stress during the summer, we reduce the production of cortisol, a hormone secreted by the adrenal glands in stressful situations. However, this hormone plays a role in certain diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and obesity. In addition, reducing stress lowers blood pressure. As a bonus, take advantage of the sun to take a good dose of vitamin D, which contributes to the health of bones, muscles and the immune system.

5. Discoveries are being made

Who says holidays, often says travel! Summer is the season of choice to go on an adventure and discover new landscapes. Did you know that about 28% of Canadians say that discovery is one of the main benefits of their travels? Travelling gives us intellectual stimulation, not to mention that we then keep wonderful memories to cherish the rest of the year.

6. Exploring seasonal activities

It is a pleasure to find his favorite activity on the occasion of sunny days. Some enjoy quiet activities, such as gardening, forest walking, fishing or golf. Others like to surpass themselves on canoe, kayak or bike tours. Enjoy every moment, because in Quebec, these activities focus on a short period.

7. Attend summer events

The Laurentians come alive all summer with a varied program of festivals, shows and gatherings! Discover our suggestions for cultural outings or shopping in our article What to do in the Laurentians this summer? In short, summer is a time to play and… to rest. We wish you to make the most of your holidays and, above all, to think of you!
